Book A Private Coach To Edinburgh From Liverpool
A 5-hour journey like Liverpool to Edinburgh requires proper planning for punctual and stress-free travel. Hiring a coach is a smart and affordable solution for planning your trip from Liverpool to Edinburgh, offering spacious seating and climate control.
On top of that, with a diverse range of 29- to 72-seater carriers, you can easily accommodate groups of all sizes at a much better price. Not to forget the generous luggage storage you get when you hire a coach with us. Each bus comes with its own dedicated space to store your baggage according to the vehicle type you hire.
Our coaches work as a practical choice for airport transfers and group tours without any disruption, including other venues like Carlowrie Castle for a wedding, The Hub for a party or the EICC for a corporate meeting. Your only job is to pick a bus according to your group size & other requirements. For example, a 33-seater standard coach is ideal for a group of 30-33, as it offers adequate boot space. In the case of larger groups, like 50-55 passengers, you may hire a 53-seater or 55-seater bus which has underbelly storage and overhead compartments, providing more cabin space.
If your group is smaller than 29 people, you can also hire a minibus offering equal comfort, matching your group size.

Route Breakdown
- Distance & Time: This journey covers about 215 miles and normally takes 4 to 4.5 hours under normal traffic conditions.
- Departure from Liverpool: Going out of Liverpool heading towards the north, you will get on the M6.
- Along the Way in Northern England: The M6 leads you from south to north, passing through beautiful parts of Lancashire, including the city of Lancaster. Then you will go through the picturesque region of Cumbria, near Carlisle.
- The Border: You enter Scotland a little south of Carlisle, and the M6 merges into the A74(M). Travelling through Scotland: The M74 keeps you going in the same direction, this time further inside Scotland.
- Getting to Edinburgh: Ultimately, the M8 is your connection, and the A720, the Edinburgh city bypass, is your guide for your arrival in the Scottish capital.
Service Stops Along The Way
The Tebay Services on the M6 in Cumbria is the first stop, being roughly halfway between both ends of the motorway. The family-owned Tebay site offers a farm shop, outdoor space, and great food on both sides of the motorway. Groups who want to have a break a bit earlier can go to Killington Lake Services, which is situated just south of Tebay, also on the M6 in Cumbria. Further north, Southwaite Services near Carlisle is the last comfort stop before crossing into Scotland.
Travel Issues While Commuting
- Friday Afternoons: On Friday afternoons, the road patch on the M6 between Preston and Carlisle is jam-packed as most people are travelling to Scotland.
- M6 Roadworks: Be cautious if there are still roadworks between junctions 32 and 36. A traffic jam here can easily add 45 minutes to 1 hour to your trip.
- The Abington bottleneck: Near Abington, the road squeezes in a little bit, which slows traffic and causes traffic jams.
- Edinburgh Bypass Traffic: If you get here about mid-afternoon, then you will most likely be travelling through the rush-hour traffic on the A720 city bypass, which will slow down your arrival.
- Festival and Holiday Closures: If you happen to travel during the Fringe Festival in August or Hogmanay on New Year's Day, the roads are closed around the Old Town.
